Why does SAFE fundraise? To support local efforts like this. Have you seen these yard signs around town? SAFE purchased the signs with funds donated by supporters.
Why does SAFE fundraise? We see reasonable, community-minded, non-partisan people stepping up to learn how to become a candidate in the next election cycle... we want to be in a position to help support those local candidates when they run.

PUSHING POLITICAL AGENDAS

For months certain school board members have continuously pushed their personal and political agendas instead of getting on with the business of supporting our public schools.
Despite widespread and very public opposition of the Alpena community, they have denied our students an outdoor education opportunity that would cost the district nothing, awarded a contract to a company that did not submit the lowest bid for work, and pushed a ridiculous new bathroom policy.
These board members are openly political and have invited agitators from outside the community to attend board meetings and create a circus atmosphere.
School Board Members are supposed to be non-partisan and work to support all students at our schools.
